Veriga dintre MI si Ne
Illustration & Visual Storytelling for Uana Mihăilă's debut poetry book
In Veriga dintre MI și Ne, Uana Mihăilă opens a delicate bridge between solitude and connection, childhood and becoming. Her poems carry the raw beauty of growing pains, family echoes, and the quiet power of self-discovery — a whisper from the past shaping the voice of the present.
My role was to visually translate this emotional journey into illustrations and book design that feel both intimate and timeless. The cover illustration — a minimal, symbolic embrace — reflects the central theme: how the "I" learns to reach toward the "We" without losing itself.

The graphic style is a blend of softness and nostalgia:
Muted, dusky colors that let emotion breathe without shouting.
Simplified forms inspired by childhood cut-outs, evoking both innocence and clarity.
Mixed-media textures — handwritten notes, old photographs, ink stains — bring the past closer, almost tangible, like pages found in a memory box.
Authenticity through detail: we incorporated fragments of the author’s real handwriting, adding a layer of emotional truth and personal voice to the visual narrative.
Collage-style compositions, where each element (a rotary phone, a crumpled note, a Polaroid joy) becomes part of the story between the poems.
This project was more than a book. It was a shared ritual of remembering, healing, and shaping emotion into something you can hold.
Your story deserves softness, too.
If you’re writing words that come from the heart, I’d love to wrap them in visuals that feel just as personal. Watercolor, textures, handwritten details — let’s create a book that breathes with emotion and looks like no other.
